I’m taking a break from my strict regime of sitting on rocks looking at the sea and the hills, and occasionally having a swim or a bike ride (heard a corncrake while cycling last night), to post the music credits for tonight’s episode of Skins. The show, written by Bryan Elsley, is rather beautiful: hope you like it.
me: 1844 Broadwood piano, dulcitone, guitar, bass, Pro Tools stuff
Karen Marshalsay: wire-strung clarsach
Bill Taylor: wire-strung clarsach (check out his Musica album, fantastic chillout music)
Madrigirls: choir
Greg Lawson, Fiona Stephen: violins
Scott Dickinson: viola
Segal: synthy bits
Recorded and mixed by Neil McDermott, except for the dodgy-sounding lo-fi bits which were me pointing a microphone in the general direction of the sound and hoping for the best. Thanks to everyone at the University of Glasgow where we recorded most of it on quiet Sunday mornings, and to Andrew Baxter for giving the university his amazing old piano, which is the real star of the score.
Next week’s show features the brilliant Gabrielle Aplin: I’ll post the credits for that one too …
