I'm now beginning to devote some energy to upcoming projects: I have a pile of first edits for the Lion CD (SADN II) to listen to, I've peeked at the recording budget for The Gentle Shepherd, and I'm thinking about repertoire for gigs in Perth. One of these days I might actually sit down at an instrument and play some music.
Speaking of which, David G and I will be playing at the Fiddles on Fire festival in Gateshead in a few weeks: details here. I wonder if my harmonium will be back from the menders by then.
The Lion CD will be an interesting one: there are some seriously down and dirty fiddle tunes to be sure, but there are also vast swathes of deep melancholia which are best not interrupted with happy 'up' stuff. My most recent idea was to divide the CD into an 'up' side and a 'down' side, but I'm now wondering whether it should start with a big 'up' and gradually descend into a melancholic depression by the end. I think it will make good late night listening.
